This is a zentangle doodle that I made about a year ago. It kinda sucks having a full time job, cuz I have so many creative hobbies that I like to do. There is always a sacrifice at the expense of one my creative pursuits to dabble in another one. Lately I have been spending most of my free time on this blog and keeping my content flowing. Poetry has definitely been at the forefront of my pursuits as of late. Hopefully my poems keep flowing but if not my book that I have been writing, my acoustic guitar playing, and my drawing are all waiting patiently in the wings.
The above sketch I made was all done freehand. I have been experimenting more and more without using my trusty protractors, rulers, and french curves. The problem is I have always had terrible penmanship and find that drawing a straight line for me is very difficult. I would love to get back to oil painting but since i live in a such a tiny, shitty 300 sq ft apartment, there isn’t any room to paint on the huge canvases that I used to. Moreover, I wouldn’t be able to sequester the noxious oil paint fumes and I doubt my boyfriend would enjoy the fusty fumes of drying paint hanging around all the time. Hopefully someday I can find a spot out of the city and have a yard and a studio to paint again. Til then I guess a pen and sketchpad will have to do.
